KJP: $4 Gas Means ‘Americans Save About $420 Million At The Pump’

During a press conference on Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre claimed that Americans collectively “save $420 million” everyday at the gas station, where prices are nearly $4.00 per gallon.

The Biden administration has repeatedly denied having any responsibility for the extreme rise in fuel costs that have steadily increased since they assumed power in January 2021. Today however, they are claiming victory for lowering the price of gasoline from over $5.00 per gallon in June to $3.92 today.

“Gas prices have fallen by $1.15 from their peak, uh, which was not too long ago. The 98 consecutive day decline this summer was the fastest in over a decade,” Jean-Pierre said of the administration’s apparent accomplishment.

The Press Secretary then claimed that Americans are saving hundreds of millions of dollars every single day with $4.00 gas.

“Every month, the typical 2-driver family saves about $120 at the pump compared to where we were in mid-June. Everyday Americans save about $420 Million at the pump,” Jean-Pierre said.

It is unclear why the Biden administration views $4.00 gas as an achievement, given that the prices were nearly half that under the previous administration.

It would not be the first time the Biden White House openly touted the nation’s record high gas prices. Last week, Jean-Pierre explained that Americans should be celebrating the “important progress” their administration has made in causing gas prices to cost $4.00.

“We have seen some important progress for the American people,” Jean-Pierre claimed.

“We have seen real disposable income and real consumer spending both increase in part thanks to the strength of our jobs market,” she said, omitting the fact that the U.S. is currently in a recession.

“Gas prices are down over $1.00 per gallon since their peak this summer. That’s an overall decline of 22%,” Jean-Pierre said of gas prices.

The Press Secretary’s Tuesday remarks come just one day after she appeared to accidentally link the nation’s worsening gas price and inflation crisis to the signing of Joe Biden’s “American Rescue Plan” in April 2021 after being asked about it by a reporter, Valiant News reported.

“18 months ago when the president took office, inflation and gas prices starting rising…” a reporter began to ask the Press Secretary.

“Well, 18 months ago, uh, the president signed the American Rescue, Rescue Plan,” Jean-Pierre stuttered, “more than, about, back in April of 2021.”
