Trump Blasts Youngkin, ‘Phony’ Sears for Ditching Him: ‘MAGA Showed up Big, but Wasn’t Appreciated’

In a Sunday post to Truth Social, 45th President Donald Trump described Virginia Lt. Governor Winsome Sears as a “phony” whom he “never felt good about” when he assisted Governor Glenn Youngkin’s gubernatorial campaign late last year.

“Never felt good about Winsome Sears. Always thought she was a phony. Now I find out she is,” President Trump wrote in a post linking to a Newsweek article titled “MAGA world enraged after Republican VA Lt. Gov. dumps Trump.”

“When I helped Youngkin with his race, Endorsed him, and made a Statewide TeleRally with hundreds of thousands of people on the call, he wrote me a very nice letter thanking me for the help, and then went on to say, ‘How to win without Trump.’ MAGA showed up big, but wasn’t appreciated.”

“Sorry, Winsome, and Glenn, but we can’t let that happen!” the 45th President stated.

Trump’s most recent jab at the Virginia-based Republican officials is the latest in their ongoing public feud, which began after Sears told anti-Trump Fox Business host Neil Cavuto last week that she believes the former president is a “liability” to the GOP, Valiant News reported.

“When we look at the mission, and as a marine we’re looking at the mission, and you know, the voters have spoken and they want a different leader,” Sears said.

“And a true leader understands when they have become a liability.” She claimed, “A true leader understands that it’s time to step off the stage, and the voters have given us that very clear message.”

“The voters are saying enough is enough,” Sears said, adding that she “could not support [Trump]” in 2024.

Trump replied last week in a statement that offered a nickname to Youngkin.

“Young Kin (now that’s an interesting take. Sounds Chinese, doesn’t it?) in Virginia couldn’t have won without me,” Trump wrote shortly after the second highest authority in Youngkin’s administration trashed the former president on Cavuto’s show.

“I Endorsed him, did a very big Trump Rally for him telephonically, got MAGA to Vote for him – or he couldn’t have come close to winning.” Trump added, “But he knows that, and admits it. Besides, having a hard time with the Dems in Virginia – But he’ll get it done!”

“Listen, you all know me. I do not call people names,” Youngkin told reporters in response to President Trump’s retaliatory remarks.

“I really work hard to bring people together,” he claimed. “That’s not the way I roll and not the way I behave.”

Despite Sears’ misleading assertions concerning the former president’s effect on the GOP’s midterm election results, President Trump’s endorsement rate is over 90% successful.

Most of Youngkin’s endorsees lost their elections all across America — including two key House races on his home turf in Virginia, in which Republicans failed to defeat Democrat incumbent Congresswomen Abigail Spanberger and Jennifer Wexton in the states 7th and 10th districts.
