Sen. Mike Lee Predicts GOP ‘Will Self-Destruct as a Party’ After Supporting Omnibus

On Thursday, Senator Mike Lee appeared on Fox Business Network’s “Kudlow” and blasted Republicans who supported the monstrous omnibus spending bill. He said that support for such legislation “should never happen” again.

FNC’s Larry Kudlow said, “Senator Lee, just the last point here. I think Sen. Rand Paul put his finger on it. He was on our show a couple of nights ago. He said the GOP has lost any power of the purse, and he said the GOP has emasculated itself. This is not a good episode for the Republican Party, is it?”

Lee replied, “No, not at all.”

“One of the reasons that this sort of thing can happen and not get much attention in the process – and Republicans can still go through the motions and vote for it, devastatingly – is because it’s folded into a 4,155-page bill. One that was negotiated in secret by four or five members of Congress,” the senator continued.

He added, “There’s not a human alive who can digest 4,155 pages of legislative appropriations text in that short a period of time. That’s one of the reasons why this should never happen. Republicans, in particular, who do this should be asked to never, ever do it again. We will self-destruct as a party if this ever happens again.”

Watch:

I absolutely agree with Lee. Not a single one of them read over 4,000 pages of legislation, nor had time to fully comprehend what they read, before blindly voting to pass it.

What we DO know about the bill is an absolute nightmare, such as sending $45 billion to Ukraine, allotting $7.5 million for LGBTQ programs, and funding for January 6 prosecution. I can’t even imagine what is lurking in the pages we do not know about.

Not to mention the lack of other things that should have been included. Like, where is the funding for border security?

Here are the 21 Republican senators who just stabbed us all in the back:

  1. Roy Blunt
  2. John Boozman
  3. Shelley Moore Capito
  4. Susan Collins
  5. John Cornyn
  6. Tom Cotton,
  7. Lindsey Graham
  8. Charles Grassley
  9. Cindy Hyde-Smith
  10. Mitch McConnell,
  11. Jerry Moran,
  12. Lisa Murkowski
  13. Rob Portman
  14. Mitt Romney
  15. Mike Rounds
  16. Marco Rubio
  17. Richard Shelby
  18. John Thune
  19. Tommy Tuberville
  20. Roger Wicker
  21. Todd Young

As Conservative activist Charlie Kirk tweeted earlier this week, “Who needs Democrats when you have Republicans like these?

Senator Rand Paul also chastised the bill, which was heavily pushed by Democrat Senators Chuck Schumer and outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

He tweeted on Tuesday, “I brought along the 1.7 trillion, 4,000+ page Pelosi-Schumer omnibus spending bill that’s being fast-tracked through the Senate. This process stinks. It’s an abomination. It’s a no good rotten way to run government. We’re standing up and saying NO.”
