‘Santos Who Cried Wolf’ Says Someone Tried to Assassinate Him, Stole His Shoes (VIDEO)

Scandal-plagued Rep. George Santos claimed that he was the target of an “assassination attempt” during an interview on a Brazilian podcast in December. The interview was translated from Portuguese, and clips were aired on MSNBC’s “Rachel Maddow Show” on Monday.

In addition to claiming someone tried to murder him, as host Rachel Maddow shared, Santos also said that his shoes were stolen off his feet during broad daylight in Manhattan, in a separate incident.

While I would like to give the congressman the benefit of the doubt, his growing list of lies makes that nearly impossible to do. After being elected during midterms in November, he admitted to lying about numerous things during his campaign and on his resume including his college education, workplace experience, having a brain tumor, being Jewish, and much more.

So when he says that someone tried to murder him, all I can think of is the boy who cried wolf.

During the translated interview, Santos stated that he was the victim of numerous crimes. The openly gay representative said that he and his husband returned home from a New Year’s party in 2021 to find that their home had been vandalized.

He alleged, “It was vandalized because we were at a Republican party.”

Then came his assassination attempt claims, “We have already suffered an attempt on my life, an assassination attempt, a threatening letter, having to have the police, a police escort standing in front of our house.”

And then the Manhattan mugging, which allegedly took place one block away from Trump Tower.

“In the summer of 2021, in the middle of Fifth Avenue, with the, with 55th, I was mugged by two men,” Santos said. “Before asking any questions, they weren’t Black, they were even White, but they robbed me, took my briefcase, took my shoes, and my watch. And that was in broad daylight. It was 3 p.m. I was leaving my office, going to the garage, getting my car, and I was mugged.”

“They stole your shoes in the middle of Fifth Avenue?” the interviewer asked.

“In the middle of Fifth Avenue,” the congressman responded. “And that wasn’t the worst of it. Nobody did anything. Nobody did anything. The fear is real. It’s surreal what we live through here.”

Maddow told viewers that she has inquired about his claims from that interview, but that she has not heard back from him yet.

She also noted how he did not respond when the podcasters asked Santos about the police report from his mugging, and said she has “put in a records request with the NYPD for any police report that matches Mr. Santos described,.”

I hate to be on her side, but I do not think she will find a record for this one.

Santos may have won a GOP seat in the House, but he only did so by lying through his teeth. He is an embarrassment to the party.
