‘No Regrets’: Biden Defends ‘Wise Decision’ Waiting to Shoot Down Spy Balloon

On Thursday, President Joe Biden appeared in an interview with Noticias Telemundo and defended his decision last week to hold off on shooting down the Chinese spy balloon that floated across numerous states.

He claims the military “made a wise decision” because “they shot it down over water,” adding that he does not have any regrets about it….despite the fact that new reports have revealed the ballon was equipped with antennas.

Host Julio Vaqueiro asked, “Let me ask you about the Chinese balloon. … Now that we know what we know, that the balloon had antennas and a communication system, do you regret not having insisted on bringing it down sooner?”

Biden replied, “No. I think that the expert[s], the intelligence community, the defense community, they’ve forgotten more about it than you or I know. I said I wanted it shot down as soon as possible and they were worried about the damage that could be done even in a big state like Montana. This thing was gigantic. What happened if it came down and hit a school in a rural area? … So, I told them as soon as they could shoot it down, shoot it down. They made a wise decision. They shot it down over water. They’re recovering most of the parts.”

No regrets, huh? The balloon floated across several states, collecting information on our sensitive military sites, our food production factories, and our critical infrastructure. He could have shot it down before it ever entered our airspace.

But he didn’t.

As Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said earlier this week, “They knew about this balloon before it even entered the United States airspace. They knew about it on January 28th. President Biden allowed it to happen, but also the Department of Defense, and the Pentagon allowed it to happen.”

She declared, “We need to ask, ‘Why is our government afraid of China? Why were they afraid – to not do anything about it – why were they afraid of repercussions and what China might do if we shoot down their balloon before it entered our airspace?'”

Greene added, “The president owes the American people an apology, he owes an explanation, and he owes the American people a very serious plan on how he’s going to address China in the future.”

I agree. Instead of parading his failure as an accomplishment, Biden should be doing some serious explaining to the American people.
