DeSantis Hints He’s Running for President in 2024 With Release of New Book

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has dropped his biggest hint that he will seek the White House in 2024 yet after today marked the announcement of a forthcoming autobiography to outline his political vision for the United States.

The title of DeSantis’s book, “The Courage to Be Free: Florida’s Blueprint for America’s Revival”, seems to heavily hint that the Florida man is seeking a national office. However, in the details about the book made public, DeSantis stresses the importance of his home state.

“His heart was always for the people of Florida, one of the most diverse and culturally rich states in the union,” a Harper Collins summary of the book explains, before describing DeSantis’s political scruples:

When he implemented evidence-based and freedom-focused COVID-19 policies, the press launched a smear campaign against him, yet Florida’s economy thrived, its education system outperformed the nation, and its COVID mortality rate for seniors was lower than that in 38 states. When he enacted policies to keep leftist political concepts like critical race theory and woke gender ideology out of Florida’s classrooms, the media demagogued his actions, but parents across Florida rallied to his cause. Dishonest attacks from the media don’t deter him. In fact, DeSantis keeps racking up wins for Floridians.

Then, Harper Collins promises that DeSantis’s book “delivers something no other politician’s memoir has before: stories of victory,” and “a winning blueprint for patriots across the country.”

In its Secrets column, the Washington Examiner notes that DeSantis appears to be “following a well-worn path into presidential politics” with the release of the book, which they described as his “political blueprint” for a potential 2024 campaign.

Columnist Paul Bedard, writing for the outlet, noted that “Typically, potential presidential candidates issue autobiographies a year or two before elections as a stage setter for campaigns, and the DeSantis book sounds like a fit.”

Though more than a year before Republicans will begin voting, DeSantis remains the party’s second favorite candidate for 2024, behind 45th President Donald Trump.

Polls have consistently shown Trump as far as 30 points ahead of DeSantis, who is the only candidate to reach double digits when polled against the former president.

Following the Republican Party’s mediocre performance in the 2022 midterms, however, one outlier poll showed DeSantis ahead of Trump for the first time nationally.

At the same time, a feud appeared to erupt between Trump and DeSantis, with the former labeling the latter “Ron DeSanctimonious.”

Days later, however, a poll was released that showed Trump soundly trouncing DeSantis by 30 points, and both men appear to have poured cold water on any potential feud.

DeSantis’s book is set to release in February of 2023.
