Was the Ohio derailment an "American Chernobyl?" Should we be worried about long-term environmental effects? Are the land and water permanently poisoned?
My answer is, "no." I did my graduate work on a fellowship with the US Department of Defense and received intensive training in environmental remediation and restoration. The short-term damage is bad, but this soil and water absolutely can be restored...using nature itself.
