‘No Interest’: DeSantis Laughs Off Looming Trump Arrest, ‘Not a Real Issue’

When asked about the potential upcoming arrest of 45th President Donald Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis claimed he had “no interest” in it, laughing it off as not a “real issue.”

Last week, Trump warned his supporters on Truth Social that he had been tipped off to an upcoming arrest this Tuesday, orchestrated by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who has been financially backed by international financier George Soros, despite “no crime being able to be proven, & based on an old & fully debunked fairy tale.”

Speaking to reporters at a press conference on Monday, DeSantis, who is widely expected to enter the Republican presidential primary against Trump, was asked if he would have any role in Trump’s extradition to New York if charges are brought on him, with the former President currently a Florida resident.

While noting that there were only “rumours” swirling, DeSantis launched into an attack on Bragg, slamming him as a “Soros-funded prosecutor” who, “like other Soros-funded prosecutors” have weaponised “their office to impose a political agenda on society at the expense of the rule of law and public safety.”

However, DeSantis chose to focus on the harm that Bragg caused to “ordinary Americans,” saying that they’re the “real victims” of their agendas, which include eliminating jail sentences for many crimes. “They get victimised every day,” he added.

DeSantis joked that he doesn’t know “what goes in to paying hush money to a porn star, to secure silence over some type of alleged affair,” eliciting laughter from the crowd. He then confirmed that he has “no interest in getting involved in some type of manufactured circus.”

The Florida Governor said he had “real issues” to deal with in his state, such as shutting down Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs). “I’ve got to spend my time on issues that actually matter to people. I can’t spend my time worrying about things of that nature,” he said. “We’re not going to be involved in it in any way. I’m fighting for Floridians, and I’m fighting back against Biden.”

Trump’s two eldest sons both launched into DeSantis for his comments that seemed to make light of a potential Trump arrest.

“So DeSantis thinks that Dems weaponizing the law to indict President Trump is a ‘manufactured circus’ & isn’t a ‘real issue’. Pure weakness,” Trump Jr said. “Now we know why he was silent all weekend. He’s totally owned by Karl Rove, Paul Ryan & his billionaire donors. 100% Controlled Opposition,” he added.

“Until that day where they do the exact same thing to him, his friends and his family… at which time he will neither have the backbone, nor the resources, to fight off the corrupt system,” Eric Trump tweeted. “He’s not the guy I though he was…”

A number of conservative commentators were also quick to slam DeSantis for the way he approached the situation.
