On Tuesday, Republican firebrand Representatives Lauren Boebert, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Paul Gosar were all appointed to the House Republican Steering Committee, also known as the Oversight Committee, which is set to launch numerous investigations in the near future.
This is huge considering all three lawmakers are known for their so-called “controversial” views….in other words, they do not agree with Democrats OR the RINOs, and support former President Donald Trump, which sets them apart from a large portion of Congress.
In February of 2021, a vote in the House stripped Greene of her assignments, including on the Education Committee, for “endorsing conspiracy theories, racist dogma and violence against Democratic politicians,” reported the Hill at the time. 11 GOP members voted in favor of removing Greene from her committees.
Greene, who has pushed multiple conspiracy theories including claiming the 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting was a hoax, will also serve on the Homeland Security Committee.
Gosar lost his committees in November 2021 after the House voted to censure him for posting an anime clip on Twitter of him using a sword to attack President Joe Biden and kill Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). Gosar will also serve on the Natural Resources Committee.
The House Oversight Committee will also include the following Representatives: Mike Turner, Lisa McClain, Pete Sessions, Scott Perry, Kelly Armstrong, William Timmons, Tim Burchett, Andrew Clyde, Jake LaTurner, Byron Donalds, and Gary Palmer.
The Twittersphere is already buzzing with posts about the committee members.
The Washington Examiner’s Seth Mandel wrote, “‘Gosar, MTG, Boebert’ myyyyyy goodness off to the races we go.”
Journalist Garrett M. Graff declared, “This is going to be wild.”
Reporter Laura Rozen criticized the appointment of Rep. Perry to the committee. She said, “Perry of the conspiracy to make Jeffrey Clark acting AG so he could throw out the 2020 election.”
Sounds to me like the left is worried that they may ACTUALLY have to face the truth and therefore suffer the consequences.
Greene tweeted her statement on being assigned to the different committees, noting that she is “honored to be selected to serve on what could arguably be the most important committee this Congress.”
She added, “Joe Bide, be prepared. We are going to uncover ever corrupt business dealing, every foreign entanglement, every abuse of power, and every check cut for The Big Guy.”
