Editor’s Note: In his provocative book, Sex, Drugs, and Illiteracy: The Death of Education in America, author Geno Young pulls back the curtain on what he describes as a deeply troubled public education system, plagued by misconduct, administrative incompetence, and a failure to protect students and educators alike. Drawing on disturbing accounts from Illinois schools, Young challenges readers to confront the consequences of institutional dysfunction and the urgent need for accountability and reform. The following excerpts offer a glimpse into the troubling stories at the heart of his book.
The Tale of the Creepy Teacher
“…At the same school, Thornridge, a far more disturbing story occurred several months later. The students scoured a teacher’s social media profile and found an incriminating post. Allegedly, while working for another district, the teacher made a post that read, “I have the sexiest 3rd Period class in the world!” Instead of being fired from that position, and barred from working anywhere near an Illinois school again; the man was allegedly taken out of that predominantly white district and placed into an all-black district without a hitch. A place where they felt that he could fly under the radar.
In my opinion, the leadership of the school knowingly allowed it, swept it under the rug, and only took action to save face once the students/parents found out. Once the cat was out of the bag, the school allowed him to come in for half a half-day, before he was confronted and perp-walked out of the school by the principal and two physically imposing staff members. That was Thornridge’s idea of “action.” If that teacher had as much as looked at a student cross-eyed, and evidence of this alleged cover-up went public, the school would have been 100% liable for his actions, and in for a scandal of epic proportions. Thornridge has a reputation for hiring the absolute worst people.
According to those who work there, the main problem at the school is nepotism. Everyone has a buddy, and they hire them; whether they’re competent or not. Messing over qualified candidates, and causing the students more suffering. This time, either through sheer incompetence, or some form of willful disregard, they hired a creepy creep and allowed him to work there.”

Body Dragged Through the Parking Lot…
“The reprobate mind was rampant at Hillcrest. I recall an incident that happened in the parking lot of the school. A “Social Worker” allowed two girls to go out into the lot to sit in their car during school hours. This was a clear violation of school policy, but they were allowed to do it anyhow. When they got done doing whatever they were doing in that car, they were ready to come back in. At that time, a paraprofessional (Teacher’s Aide) just so happened to be returning from her lunch break. The girls thought that she would let them come in with her, knowing that all entrances except the main entrance were locked during school hours. The paraprofessional refused and told the girls that they would have to walk around to the front of the school to be re-admitted. The girls were pissed and proceeded to call her every “B—” and “MF” in the book. The paraprofessional stood her ground and refused to let them in.
Enraged, the girls walked back to their car and drove back around to where she was standing. They proceeded to throw a cup of water into her face. Completely outraged, the paraprofessional instantly reacted and vaulted through the passenger window and proceeded to choke the crap out of the girl who threw water on her. As the struggle ensued, the other girl pulled off in the car, leaving the paraprofessional hanging out of the window, flailing and kicking with her legs in the air as the car was in motion. In the midst of the chaos, she said that she never let go of that girl’s neck. In an unfortunate turn of events, the incident didn’t end until the car slammed into a teacher who was walking through the parking lot; badly injuring her leg.
Both girls were placed on suspension (not expelled) and the administration waited several days before interviewing the paraprofessional. She told my brother that she knew in her heart what they were doing. She knew that they were trying to cook up a way to spin the situation back on her when in reality, the main culprit was the BS social worker who let the two reprobates out in the first place. This case remains under investigation as of the writing of this work and all parties involved are pressing charges on the girls.”
